David Thompson Resort
David Thompson Resort is located 42 km west of the town of Nordegg on Alberta Highway 11. We are looking for one experienced cook to work with us in our resort. The candidates need to be independent and accountable to ensure the successful operation of our resort restaurant. Weekend work is required. The cook needs to stay in our work location. Room and board are available for a fee. Newcomers, youth, and indigenous people are welcome to apply.
Originally built in stages between 1970 and 1974 the David Thompson Resort (DTR) continues to gain popularity for family, groups and international travelers. We are surrounded by the Canadian Rockies with amazing hiking trails. Our amenities include a Hotel, various sized serviced RV pull through sites which are shaded and grassy, RV rentals, tent sites, rustic and full service cabins.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
-Set up the kitchen with cooking utensils and equipment
-Prepare and cook food according to DTR restaurant menu
-Estimate amount and costs of supplies and food items
-Maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales and inventory
-Direct food preparation and cooking activities
-Ensure food meets quality standards, in charge of kitchen operation
-Demonstrate new cooking techniques and new equipment to cooking staff
-Create new recipes
-Prepare and cook meals and specialty foods for events such as banquets
-Consult with clients regarding weddings, banquets and specialty functions
-Coordinate with kitchen staff and servers to ensure proper cooking, consideration of the special request and food allergies
-Estimate food requirements and costs
-Order kitchen supplies and ingredients
JOB REQUIREMENTS
-Proven work experience as a cook, minimum two years of experience
-Hands-on experience with various kitchen equipment skills
-Advanced knowledge of culinary techniques and recipes
-Familiarity with sanitation regulations
-College diploma or related on-the-job training/ apprenticeship
-Must be willing to stay in the work location; room and board are available
-Hard-working, physically demanding, and accountable and dependable
-Willing to work during weekends as scheduled by shifts
Job Type: full-time, Permanent
Wage: $18.00 per hour for 30 hours per week
