Fireweed Home Comfort is seeking qualified Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanics to join our team in Whitehorse, Yukon.
Job Details
Location: Whitehorse, Yukon
Wage: $37.50 per hour
Hours: 40 hours per week

Work location: On site at our shop and at residential and commercial customer locations throughout Whitehorse and surrounding areas.
Job Duties
The successful candidates will:
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications and work orders to determine installation and service requirements.
• Measure and lay out reference points for the installation of heating, ventilation, refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.
• Install heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration and heat pump systems and associated components.
• Install and service compressors, condensers, evaporators, controls, motors, fans, pumps and other HVAC and refrigeration components.
• Measure, cut, assemble and connect piping and tubing using appropriate mechanical joining, soldering and brazing methods.
• Start up heating, refrigeration and air conditioning systems and test systems for proper operation.
• Test piping and system components for leaks using appropriate testing equipment and procedures.
• Charge, recover and handle refrigerants in accordance with applicable environmental and safety requirements.
• Troubleshoot heating, ventilation, air conditioning, heat pump and refrigeration systems to identify faults and determine required repairs.
• Test electrical and electronic components and controls associated with HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
• Repair or replace defective mechanical, electrical and refrigeration components.
• Adjust and calibrate controls, thermostats and other system components to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and routine servicing of heating, refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.
• Maintain service records and document equipment condition, maintenance and repairs performed.
• Provide customers with information regarding equipment operation, maintenance and recommended repairs.
• Follow workplace health and safety requirements, manufacturer specifications and applicable industry standards.
Education
• Secondary school graduation certificate required.
• Apprenticeship training, trade diploma/certificate, college training or other recognized training in heating, refrigeration, air conditioning, HVAC, mechanical systems or a related trade is preferred.
• Equivalent Canadian or foreign education, apprenticeship and trade qualifications will be considered.
Experience
3 years to less than 5 years of relevant experience in heating, refrigeration, air conditioning, HVAC or related mechanical/electrical systems.
Experience with troubleshooting, control systems and electrical/mechanical components is considered an asset.
